The Aquarion Water Company has notified Westport officials that its contractor, True Blue Construction has scheduled the Myrtle Avenue water main replacement project on Monday, April 2, leading to several road closures. The project is expected to be completed in mid to late July, according to Westport police.

Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekend work scheduled. Officials said that road closures will occur on a “rolling” basis, detours will be clearly marked in advance, and public safety officials will be updated on a daily basis.

Motorists have been advised to seek alternate routes, when possible, or to allow for extra time when traveling in the downtown area.

“Affected residents and businesses will be notified as far in advance as possible for the work that will be performed in the immediate vicinity of their business or home,” officials noted. “However, due to the constraints of weather and unforeseen circumstances, 24-hour advance notice may be necessary.”
